THE CHALLENGE
Real search demand, but the funnel was leaking on both ends
Module Repair Lab sells a high-consideration, technical service — repairing and resetting automotive control modules (ABS, SRS/airbag, ECM, instrument clusters, touchscreens) across dozens of vehicle brands. The store had real search demand and a deep catalog, but two problems were capping growth.
1. Traffic wasn’t converting
The homepage and product pages didn’t clearly answer the visitor’s core question — “can you fix my exact module, and how does the process work?” — so qualified visitors bounced instead of buying.
2. Search visibility was leaking
The site ranked for hundreds of valuable, high-intent queries but sat on page 2–3 with near-zero clicks. Technical SEO gaps — missing alt text, weak or duplicate meta descriptions, broken internal links, missing H1s, thin category pages — were holding rankings back. And there was no analytics pipeline to see where the highest-ROI opportunities lived.
WHAT WE DID
Two parallel workstreams: CRO + technical SEO
Workstream 1 — Conversion rate optimization
Homepage rebuild. Restructured the homepage to lead with a clear value proposition and an obvious path to the right service, reducing friction for first-time visitors searching for module repair help.
Messaging & positioning. Narrowed and sharpened the messaging so the store speaks directly to its core buyer — drivers and shops looking to reuse and repair their original module instead of paying for a costly replacement. Clearer positioning means higher intent-to-purchase per visit.
Product page improvements. Tightened product copy, surfaced trust and process information (how the mail-in service works, what’s covered, expected turnaround), and made each page answer the top buyer questions before the visitor has to ask — turning more browsers into orders.
Workstream 2 — Technical & content SEO
Technical foundation. Auto-generated SEO-correct image alt text across the catalog using a custom vision-powered AI tool (see our walkthrough on bulk alt text in Shopify), fixed missing and over-length meta descriptions, resolved 404s and broken internal links (how we fix broken links), corrected missing H1s, and cleaned up page structure and translations.
Analytics pipeline. Connected Google Search Console via API and built a custom auditing tool to surface the highest-ROI opportunities — striking-distance keywords on page 2, high-impression / low-CTR listings, and underperforming category pages — so every fix was data-driven, not guesswork. (The full free-stack audit flow is documented in our free Shopify SEO audit guide.)
On-page optimization, data-led. Rewrote titles and meta descriptions on pages that ranked well but weren’t earning clicks, and rebuilt thin high-impression pages with real content and internal linking. Example: the SRS Airbag collection — a 5,600-impression page stuck at the bottom of the rankings — was expanded from a single thin paragraph into a full resource with symptom/diagnostic content and 37 internal links to brand-specific service pages.
RESULTS
The 2-month outcome: doubled conversions, 2.5x revenue run-rate
The conversion gains came from giving visitors clarity and confidence at the homepage and product-page level. The revenue multiplier came from pairing that with a measurable, Search Console–driven SEO program that brought in — and kept — higher-intent traffic.
Both workstreams reinforced each other. SEO sent more of the right people to the site; CRO converted more of them. Either fix alone would have lifted one number; running them together is what doubled the conversion rate and drove the 150% revenue lift.
WHAT’S NEXT
Compounding the SEO + CRO program
The engagement continues with a fully on-site (technical + content) SEO roadmap to expand category dominance — optimizing brand-level service pages, adding structured data for rich search listings, building topical content clusters, and tightening internal linking — all measured against live Search Console data. No paid ads. No platform migration. Conversion and SEO compounding together inside the client’s existing Shopify store.
